How to get to Amalfi, Italy

If you’re wondering, “how do I get to the Amalfi Coast?” — we’re here to help! There are two main considerations when traveling to Amalfi:

1) Flights from the US to Southern Italy, and

2) Transportation from the airport to the town of Amalfi.

Flights

The nearest major airports to Amalfi are:

Naples International Airport (NAP) *recommended

NAP is the airport closest to Amalfi, and is approximately 1.5 hours away from Amalfi by car and 2 hours by ferry. Because most of our guests will be traveling from NY/NJ/PA, Newark Airport (EWR), John F Kennedy Airport (JFK), and Philadelphia National Airport (PHL) offer direct flights to Naples International Airport (NAP).

Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO)

Approximately 3-4 hours from Amalfi. If you are planning to travel to Amalfi from another destination in Italy (Rome), you can take the train from Rome to Napoli Centrale train station, and take a private transfer service to Amalfi or take a taxi to the port of Naples and take the ferry to Amalfi town.

Transportation to Amalfi

To get from Naples to Amalfi, we recommend booking a private car transfer service or taking the ferry.

Private car transfer service

This is the most direct route from Naples to Amalfi. The drive is approximately 1.5 hours. Whether you are traveling alone or in a group, we recommend booking your transfer with either Amalfi Private Transfer or Ravello Transfer Service.

Ferry from the Port of Naples to Amalfi

Ferries to Amalfi leave from the Molo Beverello pier in the port of Naples. The typical crossing time for ferries from Amalfi to Naples is approximately 2 hours.

Naples International Airport to Naples Port: Take a taxi from Naples Airport (NAP) to Naples port (about 6 miles, 15 min drive).
